The Hound Hustle 5K Run/Walk is an annual UIndy Homecoming tradition that brings participants from all over the community. All are welcome to participate — show your UIndy pride by registering to run, or cheer on your friends!
The race takes participants on a tour of the beautiful UIndy campus and the University Heights neighborhood. Proceeds from the event will be used for student scholarships and programs. Cash awards will be given to 1st place finishers!

$25 on the day of the event (cash only) includes a shirt, if available. $5 of your entry fee will support student scholarships.
Note: Registration fee is non-refundable; the event will occur rain or shine.
- Anyone is welcome to participate; you do not have to be affiliated with UIndy.
- Strollers are welcome; please start in the back for everyone’s safety.
- One-hour course limit (18 minute/mile pace).
- No dogs allowed.
About the event
The 6th Annual Hound Hustle 5K takes participants on a tour of the beautiful University of Indianapolis campus and the University Heights neighborhood. The non-certified course is fast, flat and scenic and highlights our buildings and athletic facilities, including the Athletics & Recreation Center, Roberts Hall, and the UIndy Health Pavilion. The UIndy Hound Hustle 5K is an event for everyone, with proceeds used for student scholarships.
The event begins and ends at the Schwitzer Student Center on the UIndy campus. Post-race refreshments will be served outside (weather permitting) or inside the Schwitzer Student Center atrium.
Race-day parking on the UIndy campus is free. Please check the map for location of parking lots.
Friday, September 27
4:30-6:30 p.m.: Advance packet pick-up and new 5K registrations ($25 cash).

Saturday, September 28
7:30-8:45 a.m.: Packet pick-up and same-day registration, Schwitzer Student Center Atrium
9 a.m.: Start of 5K, outside Schwitzer Student Center
9:20-10:20 a.m.: Post-race refreshments
10:20 a.m.: Awards ceremony
$25 cash award to:
- 1st place overall male & female
- 1st place masters male & female (40+; no repeat awards)
Gift certificates will be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place overall male and female.
Age group awards will be given to the top three finishers (male & female) in the following divisions:
- 12 & under
- 70 & over
